Christmas Lights Malaga
Christmas lights in Malaga have become as genuine a part of the city as the Malagueta beach or the attractive Soho district. This tradition of Christmas lights has been gaining momentum for years. Not in vain, the lighting of the Christmas lights in Malaga has become one of the most important events of its kind in Spain.
The Christmas lights in Malaga are a very important social and tourist event attended by thousands and thousands of people every year. Last year, the capital of Malaga received more than a million visitors at this time of the year. All of them were able to enjoy the varied Christmas light show.
In this year 2020, the Christmas lights in Malaga will be switched on from 27 November to 5 January. And the lighting will be in charge of the popular actor Antonio Banderas.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it will be impossible to maintain the light and sound show that has always brought together a large mass of people on the same day of the Christmas lights switch-on. The date and the lighting of the lights scheduled for the last Friday in November will be maintained.
In this 2020 the tradition of Christmas lights is maintained to bring some light and color (never better said) to a year and a Christmas rather atypical.
Traditionally, Calle Larios acted as the nerve centre of Christmas in Malaga, where a light and sound show was projected under a starry illuminated vault. Here, a sound and light show was projected under a starry illuminated vault – beautiful! This famous show will not be able to take place this year 2020 for obvious reasons.
Hourly lights
The show on Larios Street will continue to be called El bosque de la Navidad( The Christmas Forest ). This traditional location of the lights was joined last year by the Enchanted Tree, in the Alameda Principal; and a video show(Christmas Story) will also continue to be projected on the wall of the Alcazaba.
In 2020 there will also be three light and sound shows at the following times: at 18:30, 20:00 and 21:30.
These shows will be accompanied by the Christmas songs of All I want for Christmas (Mariah Carey), Jingle bell rock (Hilary Duff), En Navidad ( Javíán, Álex, David Bustamante and Academia OT with Rosana) and Never Back Down Battlecry, (TSFH).
Malaga has been among the European cities with the best Christmas illumination for years, the show must go on!
